Hello friends! Wow, I can’t believe this is finally happening. I’ve probably been sitting on the idea to rebrand for well over five years now, so the fact that everything is done and out in the world for you to all see is completely surreal.
Firstly I just want to thank you all for sticking around and supporting me through this new stage of my creative life. Some of you have been cheering me on, and purchasing my art, from day one and I can’t express how grateful I am to still be doing this as my full time job, especially considering all of the challenges we’ve had to face the last few years. I can’t do this without you and I’m truly so grateful. I know every artist says they have the best customers in the world, but I truly mean it when I say it! Some of you I consider friends at this point. Isn’t it crazy how art, no matter the medium, forms these amazing connections between us all? It’s so special.
As for the rebrand, I hope you all like the new look and new name! You can read a little more about the meaning behind the name in my “about” section. Kura Kura treated me well for nine years but there are SO many businesses out there using it and now there’s even a Japanese pop song called it. It also doesn’t help that my boyfriends family are Polish and kura literally means chicken, so my business has been “chicken chicken” to them for almost a decade.
My gorgeous new logo was designed by a friend of mine, Emmie! I sent her a whole bunch of images of old Celtic weaponry and symbols, and she came up with the most perfect design. She also drew it in ink and sent me the original so I can frame it and hang it in my studio! You can find her work on Instagram @dazedemmie & @lionandleaf. There may also be another surprise drawing she did for me that I’ve made into postcards to send out with every order!
